JOB AT BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION , THURSDAY 10, NOVEMBER 2011

The British High Commission Abuja has the following vacancy in its Corporate Services Section:
JOB VACANCY TITLE: LE I  SECURITY MANAGER
GENERAL
The British High Commission is looking for a Post Security Manager to work in its Corporate Services Section.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties in this busy and responsible job will include:

? As Post Security Manager you will work with the Regional Overseas Security Manager to be responsible for the supervision of all the security personnel and systems, maintaining and testing procedures and the implementation of a consistent approach to provide a safe working environment for office staff. You will play a significant role in managing the radio communications network.
? You will be responsible for the supervision and management of the access control and rapid reaction security contracts. Also for the Transport Unit in Corporate Services, including line management and/or countersigning officer responsibilities for this team and the High Commissions Airport Facilitator.
CONDITIONS
The successful candidate must hold a British passport and/or currently be security cleared by HMG above Protect level. Any appointment is subject to the candidate successfully obtaining security clearance. The expected start date for this position is December 2011.
This is a full time position, from 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.00pm on Friday. The job will be graded LE I with a monthly starting basic salary of N469,436 per month. The job will be subject to six months probationary period and will attract an allowance for out of hours working. Successful candidates who are not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary. The salary will be paid in Naira.
QUALITIES
To meet the challenges of this demanding position it is an advantage if you have:
- previous staff management experience;
- previous experience of working for Her [Britannic] Majesty’s Government (HMG) and
- Military, police or commercial security industry experience.
Additional qualities will include Managing & Developing Staff, Delivering Results, Working with Others and Communicating & Influencing.
The successful candidate will have excellent English oral and written communication skills, excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously; have strong interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
Candidates must have good keyboard skills. Knowledge of computers and software packages (notably MS Word and MS Excel) is essential.
