The British Deputy High Commission in Lagos has the following vacancy in its Visa Section:
JOB TITLE: ENTRY CLEARANCE GENERALIST
GENERAL
The UKBA Visa Services in Lagos has a vacancy for one LEIV Entry Clearance Generalist. The successful candidates will undertake a variety of administrative tasks to support the visa operation. Main duties will be data capturing, handling customer enquiries, despatching applications, logging appeals, filing, indexing and other registry functions. You will also be expected to cover other areas of duty when necessary.
 PERSON SPECIFICATION

The visa operation in Nigeria is one of the UK’s largest overseas. Our team in West Africa is committed to providing a first class service. They are expected to be flexible, meet the demanding standards set by UKBA, and make fair and defensible decisions on visa applications quickly whilst balancing the need for a high level of customer service with the requirement to maintain the integrity of the immigration control. We are looking for courteous people with good oral and written communication skills. The ability to work as part of a busy team, a positive approach to tackling problems, as well as a willingness to take on new tasks is required. The most important qualities required are resilience, a flexible approach and the ability to work well in a team. The work can often be pressured.


Previous experience of working within an office environment, good keyboard skills and familiarity with computers and software packages (notably MS Word, Excel and straightforward databases) is desirable, although training will be provided where necessary.

This is a full time position, from 7.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 7.30am – 12.30pm on Friday. The job will be graded LE IV with a monthly salary of N174,512 including allowances. Successful candidates who are not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary.

This position is offered on a twelve-month contract but the successful applicant will be subject to a three-month probationary period to establish their competency before being confirmed in the role.
